KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened Wednesday evening.

The shooting, which resulted in the city's 122 homicide, occurred around 5 p.m. near East 16th Street and Lister Avenue.

Details surrounding what led up to the incident have not yet been released, but a neighbor told Fox 4's Robert Townsend that he heard several gunshots before seeing three guys jump into a dark-colored vehicle and leave the scene. That neighbor also told Fox 4 that he saw someone in the dark-colored vehicle fire shots at a silver vehicle. Neighbors then saw the silver vehicle crash, possibly hitting a fence before rolling over several times.

"I heard the shots four or five shots when I was putting out my chair for my wife," neighbor Earl Gillespie said. "I started to duck behind the chair. I was looking for an object that was the closest to me."

"It makes my heart heavy because I'm so sad that another young person is gone at such a young age," neighbor Nancy Simons added.

Police say the man who was driving the vehicle had been shot and died from his injuries. Investigators are still trying to determine whether this was a rolling gun battle.

The  victim's identity has not yet been released.
