BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. -- Officers were called to a home in the 1700 block of NW Sixth Street Monday morning at about 1:50 on reports of a shooting and when they arrived they found a victim, a 16-year-old boy, lying dead in the front yard.

"This is an active investigation with very little that can be released at this time," said Jennifer Dachenhausen, Blue Springs police spokesperson.

Fox 4's Kathy Quinn was on the scene and said the teen killed did not live in the home.

He has been identified as 16-year-old Colby Stephenson.

Police are looking for a late 90's, two-door red Pontiac with the left rear hub cap missing.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 816-228-0151.
