MONTGOMERY, Ala. — A man wanted in connection to a child pornography video still widely circulating on Facebook has now been charged with sexual abuse of three children, ages nine, 10 and 12.

Germain Moore, 44, of Detroit, is in custody in Alabama after turning himself in, in connection to the video showing sexual abuse of a child.

The video was shared many times on Facebook across the United States and Europe. Some said they were sharing it in an effort to identify and catch the suspect, but on Tuesday, during a news conference authorities reiterated that any kind of sharing of child porn is a crime.

“I want to reiterate… if you get this video don’t panic, don’t think we’re going to be coming to arrest you but please delete it,” said Randall Houston, district attorney in Alabama’s 19th judicial circuit. “We don’t need you to bring it to us. We don’t need you to make a copy. Just delete it and do not distribute it. That’s all you got to do.”

In a statement, Alabama Highway Patrol Sgt. Steve Jarrett said Facebook is aware of the video “and is actively working with law enforcement.” Read Jarrett’s full statement here.

On Tuesday, Wayne County, Michigan Prosecutor Kym Worthy said she is charging Moore, who is from Detroit, with four counts of criminal sexual conduct.  The abuse he’s accused of occurred from 2011 until 2017. Worthy says Moore sexually assaulted the nine, 10 and 12 year old children at his mother’s home in Detroit and at his home in Alabama.

According to investigators, the children have “aged” since the video. The child in the video was found safe and is no longer in danger, according to WHNT,

Specifically, in Michigan, Moore has been charged with four counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct – First Degree:  Two counts of Child Sexually Abusive Activity, one count of Computers – Using to Commit a Crime and one count of Children – Distributing Sexually Explicit, Visual or Verbal Matter*.

Central Alabama CrimeStoppers announced 11 felony charges were filed against Moore related to the criminal sexual assault involving a child under the age of 13.

Moore is expected to be extradited from Alabama, as prosecutors in both Michigan and Alabama work to build their cases against him.

“We have him. We have custody of him so we have priority at this time,” said Houston. “We are going to do whatever we think will get him convicted the quickest and in prison the longest, so we will work with them in that regard. Whoever has the best case, though, that’s where he’ll end up most likely.”

Kansas City Police told one of FOX4’s reporters that they had received many complaints and concerns about the video after individuals in the community had received it via social media.
