Pedestrian struck and killed by train in Gardner

GARDNER, Kan. — A pedestrian has died Tuesday night after being hit by a train in Gardner.

According to Johnson County Med Act, the person was hit by a BNSF train near North Moonlight Road and East Main Street shortly after 6 p.m.

The victim was pronounced dead on the scene. Police have not released that person’s name yet.

Gardner police said the area will be shut down while investigators work to reconstruct the scene. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and BNSF Railway police are assisting in the investigation.
