KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A longtime Kansas City brand filed for bankruptcy protection Sunday.
Beauty Brands, which launched in 1995, will continue operating its stores, but said revenue has fallen.
The company also announced it has entered into an asset purchase agreement with Hilco Merchant Resources, LLC for a sale of its operating assets.
The company announced last year it would lay off corporate staff and close 25 stores. Hilco will liquidate the inventory of those stores and the Company will continue to operate 33 stores, including all stores in the Kansas City and St. Louis metro areas while it pursues the sale of its operating assets.
Beauty Brands has 14 stores remaining in Kansas City and 33 altogether.
