291-Highway reopens after vehicle hits, kills pedestrian

SUGAR CREEK, Mo. -- A vehicle hit and killed a pedestrian in Sugar Creek early Friday morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol dispatcher said the deadly incident happened in the northbound lanes of 291-Highway near Kentucky around 4:30 a.m.

Law enforcement directed traffic off of northbound 291-Highway at Courtney Road while they conducted their investigation. By 8:30 a.m., the highway was back open.

Officials have not yet released the victim's identity.

A FOX4 crew at the scene said they saw a Republic Recycling truck being towed from the scene.
