Quick-thinking Gardner police officer helps contain fire

GARDNER, Kan. — A Gardner police officer helped keep a house fire from becoming much worse.

The officer was on duty at around 3:30 Sunday morning when they spotted a fire near Washington and Cherry Streets.  The officer called firefighters – who were able to put the fire out within 15 minutes.

The home was being renovated, so nobody was inside at the time, and nobody was hurt.  Investigators are trying to determine what started the fire.
