Alex joined FOX4 in December 2019 and has taken over the weekend morning meteorologist position. He also does the noon show Monday through Wednesday, along with some 9 AM shows, so be sure to check out his forecasts!
He’s very proud to be born and raised right here in Kansas City, and that only adds to the passion he has for weather. It all started back when he was a child, and Kansas City was struck by that epic January 2002 ice storm. His home lost power for about a week as almost every tree around his house had limbs on the ground, thanks to the record amount of freezing rain. He wondered how something as simple as ice could do so much damage! The wonder about the weather only grew over the years as severe weather season in the spring (and sometimes in the fall) would bring powerful storms and the occasional tornado.
After graduating from Archbishop O’Hara in 2013, he went on to graduate from the University of Missouri in Columbia with a degree in Atmospheric Science in May 2017. There, he interned at KOMU 8 News as a weathercaster. The first major step of his broadcasting career took him to South Bend, Indiana after college, where he experienced every season and got to see phenomena unique to the Great Lakes region, like lake effect snow! Now, he’s back home and ready to take on the crazy Midwest heat, cold, storms, snow, and everything in between.
When he’s not working, you can probably find Alex eating some good KC BBQ, playing rec softball with his friends, going for a run, doing some travelling, or cheering on the Chiefs and Royals!
