
Jacob Lanier joined FOX4 in spring 2022 and loves living in Kansas City! He is an AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (#851) and brings tons of severe weather experience from the Deep South. You can watch his forecasts during weekend evenings and at Noon & 4 PM during the workweek.
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Jacob is used to active weather. He was fascinated by severe storms from a young age and grew up wanting to be a meteorologist. He found his love for television during broadcasting classes in high school and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Professional Meteorology at Mississippi State University. While at MSU, Jacob was the head drum major for the Famous Maroon Band and was also awarded “Best Weathercast” from the Associated Press.
He then worked as an on-air meteorologist in both Alabama and Mississippi for several years, where he tracked hurricanes, tornadoes, and even winter storms. Jacob’s life-saving coverage of twin EF-4 tornadoes on Easter 2020 was awarded “Best Weather Coverage” by the Mississippi Association of Broadcasters. He enjoys keeping you safe & informed during severe weather.
When he’s not in the FOX4 Weather Center, Jacob enjoys being outdoors, working out, playing board games, eating BBQ, and traveling!
