KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One out of five people who has an eating disorder will die from complications of it. On Thursday, the Missouri Eating Disorders Association held a discussion in Kansas City about the problems those battling disorders face.

Patients and family members say there’s a critical shortage of therapists and doctors who specialize in eating disorders. FOX 4 Medical Reporter Meryl Lin McKean says they also claim that limited insurance coverage forces patients out of treatment too soon.
