KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Do you tell your spouse everything? Do they know the details of your spending habits?

According to a Money Watch poll, some are keeping some serious secrets about their finances, including credit card statements -- some even have a secret bank account and/or a secret checking account.

Other research shows that people don't want to admit to their significant other what they've actually paid for something, especially during tough economic times. Statistics show six out of 10 people lie to their partners about money. Only one in 10 men suspect their partner of lying to them about their spending.

The items women lie most about include buying clothes (47 percent), shoes (30 percent) and gifts (28 percent). Men lie most about buying gadgets (30 percent), gifts (19 percent), alcohol (19 percent).
