KANSAS CITY, Mo. — May is National Mental Health Awareness Month, and researchers say one in five kids will have a diagnosable mental or emotional health disorder within their lifetime.

Debbie Karlstrand from the Family Conservancy says it’s really important to realize that any mental health issues with a child can have serious effects on their development.
