Dr. Michelle Robin, D.C. with Your Wellness Connection explains how you can have ‘vibrant health.’ Dr. Robin said that most people come to her office and say they are suffering from a lack of energy. To help them, she starts with the basics: water, sleep, diet.

For water, Dr. Robin says cucumber water can add just enough flavor to drink more.

For sleep, Dr. Robin says get a proper pillow that supports your neck. Sleep on your side with a pillow between your knees to support hips and lower back. Sleep on your back with a pillow under your knees to support lower back. Do not sleep on your stomach or with your arms above your head.

Pick a reasonable wake time and be consistent. Over a few days your body will show you how many hours of sleep you need and will establish your bedtime. Honor your body’s requests. When you are tired at 8:30 p.m., don’t push past it and wait for a second wind. Go to sleep.

Create a ritual for bedtime. You create a conditional response that prepares the body and mind to sleep. At least 30 minutes before bed get off your computer and turn off the television. Begin to darken the lights in your house. Add other self‐care rituals that will support relaxation — possibly a scented bath.

Dr. Robin says diet is also important to your overall well being. She stresses the importance of consuming more greens. She says it’s a great way to cleanse your body of the bad stuff and it’s a great way to start the day. She suggests drinking a smoothie and offers a couple recipes that are low calorie and packed with tons of nutrients so you’ll be filled with energy and ready to make great things happen!
