Mama’s Milk Cookies help promote lactation

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Carrie Gangel, owner of Mama's Milk Cookies, a lactation cookie company based out of Overland Park says she does not use breastmilk in the cookies, but the ingredients help promote lactation.

Traditional Lactation Cookies

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
2 cups oats
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup flax-seed meal
2 tablespoons chia seeds
2 tablespoons fenugreek
3 tablespoons brewer’s yeast
1/3 cup water
3/4 cup unsweetened apple sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 large eggs
2 cups chocolate chips
1 cup walnuts

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit

Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt in a bowl.

In a large bowl, beat almond butter, butter, apple sauce, brown sugar, vanilla, brewer’s yeast, flax, chia, fenugreek and water until creamy.

Mix in eggs.

Gradually beat in flour mixture.

Mix in nuts and chocolate chips.

Add oats slowly, mixing along the way.

Place balls of dough onto greased baking sheets or baking stones.

Bake 12 minutes.
