KANSAS CITY, Mo. — April is Autism Awareness month. Easter Seals Midwest Autism Ambassador Aaron Likens has been recognized on the list of “68 People with Autism to Know.” The list, which also includes notable figures such as Temple Grandin and Dan Aykroyd, was compiled by Kerry Magro, a national speaker, author and nonprofit founder who has autism, as well. The number 68 is unique because 1 in 68 people are diagnosed with autism.
Aaron is a recipient of the prestigious Mental Health Champion award given by the Missouri Department of Mental Health, and has found an opportunity to share with the world what it`s like to have autism through his position as Easter Seals Midwest`s autism ambassador.
An accomplished public speaker, published author, avid blogger and remarkable individual who was diagnosed at age 20 with Asperger syndrome, a high-functioning form of autism, Aaron is committed to advocating for early intervention services, especially because he himself was diagnosed later in life.
Aaron visited the FOX 4 studio on Monday, April 25 to share what he wants other to learn from his story.
Aaron will serve as the keynote speaker at the upcoming Kansas City Conference Tuesday, April 26 at Kauffman Foundation Conference Center.
