KANSAS CITY, Mo. — International Yoga Day is Tuesday, June 21. As approximately 10,000 people gathered in India to exercise and stretch their bodies and minds collectively, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he chose June 21 because in many parts of the world, the day is long and the sun is closest to the earth.
At Modi’s urging, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga on December 11, 2014.
Modi asks the world to make yoga part of their daily lives, just like a cell phone.
The FOX 4 Morning Show will have more on International Day of Yoga at 9:00 a.m. See all the ways people are celebrating yoga around the globe by searching the hashtag #yogaday.
