KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kids are often carrying heavy loads in their backpacks. Dr. Todd Fristo with Saint Luke's Medical Group says it’s important for kids to learn the proper way to carry their backpacks to prevent back injuries. Dr. Fristo adds that the total weight of the backpack should never be more than 10-15 percent of the student's body weight.
