Unique idea leads to booming business for Lee’s Summit woman

LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. -- A local woman looking to create a problem-solving product ended up creating a booming business that's based in Lee's Summit.

Heelusions will celebrate one year in business this year.  The products are sold all over the country and even in China.

President and founder Joan Mauck says she got the idea while trying to find a cheap fix for a pair of worn out shoes.

"It started out to be strictly for protection then it development into an accessory," Mauck said.
