KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS still lingers here and there on social media, and because of its success in raising funds for ALS, many people convicted about other causes and needs hope for the same viral sensation for their challenges.

Over the weekend, FOX 4's Matt Stewart accepted the Smash Away SMA Challenge.

Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) refers to a group of diseases that affect the motor neurons of the spinal cord and brain stem.

Matt, with the help of his timid and giggling daughter Maddy, allowed whip cream to be smeared across his face. He then challenged FOX 4's Nick Vasos, Kim Byrnes and Michelle Bogowith. Watch the cute video in the player above.  More on Matt's friend Charlie here.

Is there a challenge you've thought of or seen that you'd like to see 'go viral' like the Ice Bucket Challenge?

Misty Cline, a FOX 4 KC facebook fan, suggested the American Flag for Vets Challenge. If you are receive the challenge, you have 24 hours to display an American flag in your yard or (and)  donate $20 to your nearest veterans association.
