KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 9-year-old boy was killed Thursday night after he was hit by a car in Kansas City.

The collision happened before 7 p.m. near E. 23rd Street and Kensington Avenue.

Police said the little boy was on the north side of 23rd Street where there are steep hills and steps when he lost his balance, tripped and fell into the road.

The driver didn’t see the 9-year-old, but felt the impact of the crash, stopped and cooperated with police.

Police said the boy died at the scene. His name has not been released yet.
