Police identify man shot and killed near 40th and Blue Ridge Cutoff

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One man is dead following a shooting Tuesday night in Kansas City.

The incident was reported shortly before 7 p.m. near 40th and Blue Ridge Cutoff. Police said the shooting happened in a vehicle that several people were riding in.

The vehicle pulled into a nearby BP gas station for help, and when police arrived, several people were held for questioning. Police said one man is in custody; they are not looking for any suspects.

The victim was identified as 27-year-old Dwayne J. Sutton, of Kansas City.
