UPDATE: Police have identified the driver of the Buick as 28-year-old Tianna Williams and the rear passenger as 35-year-old Janae Miles-Wright. Both died in the crash.


KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A single-vehicle crash Thursday evening in Kansas City, Missouri has left two people dead and one injured.

Kansas City police tell FOX4 emergency crews responded to the crash just before 5 p.m. in the area of E. 63rd Street and Elmwood Avenue, near Swope Park and the Kansas City Zoo.

Police said the driver of a silver Buick Lucerne was speeding west on 63rd Street when the driver lost control and went off the roadway and struck a large tree. The vehicle flipped a couple of times, ejecting two of the three people from the vehicle.

The driver and the rear seat passenger who was ejected from the vehicle was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police said the front passenger was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

None of the people in the vehicle were wearing seat belts, according to police.

Names of the two people killed have not been released at this time.

The crash remains under investigation.
