KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two people are dead and two more were hurt in a shooting at a house party late Monday night.

According to the Kansas City Police Department, officers were called to the area of 73rd Street and Manchester Avenue on reports of a shooting call at 10:45 p.m.

Police found three victims with gunshot wounds. Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

The two victims killed were identified as 26-year-old Deshawn Dudley and 20-year-old Dondre Hart.

The third was taken to the hospital and a fourth victim arrived at the hospital later. Both were last listed as stable.

Neighbors FOX4 spoke with on Tuesday say they’ve complained about the parties at the home to prevent this from happening.

“I knew it was going to happen,” Lonnie Jackson said. “I knew it was going to happen. You can’t let a thousand people or number of people they had up there.”

He’s lived in the Candlelight Ridge neighborhood since 1973 and said it’s been a quiet neighborhood up until a couple of years ago. Jackson said he and other neighbors have made calls to the police and city leaders about the home.

“It’s been a problem for over 3 years,” Jackson said. “Shocka-locka boom boom all night long. It’s a shame.”

“We need help out here,” Herman Gant said. “We need it right now because what’s happening should not be happening.”

When FOX4 shared neighbors’ concerns in 2020, the home was listed as a private rental called “The B Estate.”

FOX4 recently talked to the one of the owners who said they are no longer renting out the home as an Airbnb. They said some college students were using the home’s pool for a back-to-school party where there were several security officers.

Police ask that anyone who may have information about the shooting to call homicide detectives at (816) 234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS.
