KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police say two people who were shot in east Kansas City, Mo., Monday evening have died.

Qwentelia Vanzant and Jason Syrus, both 25 and both from Blue Springs, Mo., died in the shootings.

It happened just before 9 p.m. near Blue Parkway and Hardesty Avenue.

According to officers, it began as a large disturbance outside a discount smokes convenience store. Officers say someone pulled a gun and began to shoot.

No suspect information was immediately available.
