KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person is dead following a two-vehicle collision Monday night.
Police say a Ford and a Chevy were traveling south on Holmes Road, approaching 115th Street when the Ford, which was in front of the Chevy slowed or stopped to make a left turn onto 115th Street.
Investigators say the Chevy swerved to the left and struck the driver’s side door of the Ford as it was turning. The collision pushed the Ford off the road and to the left. The Ford then struck a gas main.
Emergency responders transported the driver of the Ford to the hospital, but he later died from his injuries.
Police arrested the driver of the Chevy and said they were investigating for impairment.
Missouri Gas Energy responded to handle the gas leak.
Holmes Road was closed for approximately two and a half hours for crash investigation and repair by MGE.
Police identified the driver of the Ford as 72-year-old Gary J. Dramshek.
