BAINBRIDGE, Ga. -- A 92-year-old woman has been kicked out of her church for not participating enough.

Josephine King says she is no longer welcome at her Georgia church, which she has attended for decades.

She received the news in a letter, signed by the pastor. It says king has shown "non-support" towards the church, meaning lack of participation both physically and financially.

King was sick and could not leave her home for several months.

But King's nephew says she has gone above and beyond to financially support the church in the past.

"You got to have money to make these churches run, but it's not about money.  It's about God. You have to put God first," said Gerald Simmons, King’s nephew.

A number of people have posted on the church's Facebook page to condemn its decision to remove king. The church has not posted on its Facebook page in more than two years.
