KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City isn’t the only city in the U.S. feeling the disappointment from cancelled air shows.
Federal budget cuts are taking a toll on air shows around the country.
FOX 4 News has learned that the cutbacks have affected more than 200 of the approximately 300 air shows held in the U.S. each year.
Earlier this month, the Kansas City Air Show announced it had no choice but to cancel the annual show this year, since many groups like the U.S. Navy and the Army Golden Knights had reniged on their promise to appear at the show due to federal funding cuts.
The International Council of Air Shows predicts that up to 20 percent of the shows won’t return next year.
