KANSAS CITY, Mo. — More travelers are choosing to ride the train rather than fly the friendly skies. Amtrak reports that ridership has doubled along some routes in Missouri. One popular route is the St. Louis to Kansas City line.
A seat on Amtrak from St. Louis to Kansas City costs $28.00 roundtrip, and you can make the trip in the same day. And with new cars, new engines and new technology, the future of trains
looks very positive.
“It`s gone from 63 percent to around 90 percent,” Eric Curtit, MoDOT, said. “And we have weeks and sometimes months where it was 100 percent on time performance.”
And trains are good for the environment because each time a train runs between St. Louis and Kansas City, it removes 600 vehicles from I-70.
