KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Reach out and Read Kansas City hosted the 9th Annual Green Eggs & Ham Breakfast  at Crown Center Exhibit Hall Friday morning.

The breakfast benefits reading literacy for local children.

Reach out and Read is Kansas City’s only medically based early literacy program, according to the company. The organization helps provide more than 76,000 new books to 30,000 at-risk children each year. Clinics around town provide a new book to children ages birth to five at  the doctor. The program encourages doctors and nurses to inform parents about the benefits of early literacy.

While at the event guest enjoyed a spread of green eggs and ham and listened to reading of Dr. Seuss’ classics.

FOX 4’s John Holt was the MC for the event.
