TOPEKA, Kan. — Two men have been arrested after they were accused of stabbing a Shawnee Mission West football star. Topeka police arrested Martin Rodriguez and Daniel Wahquahboshkuk in connection with the alleged assault on 18-year-old Brett Sterbach in July.

Sterbach and his family had stopped at a Topeka convenience store after he had played in the Shrine Bowl. Surveillance video showed him waiting inthe car while family members went inside. That’s when Sterbach said two men walked up and tried to rob him. He fought them off but was stabbed in the process.

Both Rodriguez and Wahquahboshkuk were booked on aggravated battery, aggravated assault and aggravated robbery.
