4 kids, 1 adult injured in crash involving car and school bus near 52nd and Woodland

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Four children and a woman were injured Monday afternoon in a crash involving a car and a school bus, police say.

The wreck was reported just before 4 p.m. near 52nd Street and Woodland Avenue.

The four children were all aboard an Apple Bus and attended Allen Village School. In total there were 20 kids on the bus and two adults, a driver and monitor. None of the other children were injured.

The woman who was injured was the driver of the car involved in the crash.

The children were taken to a nearby hospitals with minor injuries. Police said the woman suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Editor’s note: Kansas City police initially said six people were injured, but later corrected that information to say five people were injured.
