Award-Winning App Helping Residents Report Problems

LENEXA, Kan. — Have you ever been frustrated with a light that seems to stay red forever?

Or a pot hole that never gets fixed?

If you live in Lenexa, it’s now easier to complain about it because there’s an app for that.

The city of Lenexa has just released a new app for iPhones and iPads that make it easier for residents to voice their complaints and concerns.  It’s called “Lenexa 311” and Lenexa officials say its really easy to use.

For example, if you see a stop sign down on the ground, you can take a picture of it on your iPhone or iPad, set your location with the GIS technology, and then type out the problem.  Once you submit your report, a work order is created and you can follow along as city staff fix the problem.

Lenexa won the “ImpacT Award” from the Kansas City Business Journal on November 5 in the client interface category for this app.  Lenexa officials said they hope to sell this technology to other cities around the metro and across the country.

The app is free for you to download.  You can find it in the iTunes store.  You can also continue to voice concerns on Lenexa’s website at  the city has not yet released its app for the Android or other phones.
