LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. — A BB gun caused a brief lockdown of Chapel Lakes Elementary School in Lee’s Summit on Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, officers were called to the school around 4 p.m. after someone reported seeing a person tuck a gun into their waistband.

Officers were able to track down three people — an underage boy and two underage girls. “The gun in question was located and determined to be a BB gun,” police said.

All three were taken to police headquarters where there their parents picked them up, police said.

Charges could be filed.

The school’s lockdown was lifted after the trio were found, police said.
