BELTON, Mo. — Belton police are investigating after a driver struck and killed a pedestrian Monday night.

Police said it happened along the northbound lanes of I-49 south of the 155th Street just before 10 p.m.

According to first responders, the pedestrian died at the scene.

Police have not released the victim’s identity.

They’re asking anyone who may have seen the crash to  call the (816) 331-1500.

Police have since said the driver stayed on the scene and is cooperating, this was not a hit-and-run.

“The driver involved in the crash pulled over immediately and called 911. The driver has cooperated with our department during the investigation,” police said.
