KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A man was hit by a truck Friday night at the intersection of Southwest Trafficway and 39th Street. A KCPD dispatcher confirmed the incident and said he was taken to a hospital, but died according to police.

Sergeant Bill Mahoney told FOX 4's Molly Balkenbush at the scene that Ronald Johnson, 40, was a bicyclist who was headed eastbound when he lost control and fell off his bike. Sgt. Mahoney said he landed directly in front of a truck whose driver attempted to brake, but still hit the cyclist.

The driver was not under the influence of alcohol according to police.
