KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A bicyclist suffered critical injuries after being hit by a car in Kansas City Monday evening.
Police were called to the scene near Roanoke Road and W 31st Street on a report of a crash.
A driver in a Hyundai Elantra was traveling west on 31st Street with a green light. A white man on a bicycle was traveling north on Roanoke against a red light when he was struck by the Hyundai.
The bicyclist was thrown from the bike onto the hood of the vehicle before hitting the pavement.
The bicyclist was taken to the hospital in critical condition. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The driver stayed at the scene. Police have not released the name of the bicyclist.
