KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Everyone wants a piece of the Kansas City Royals. The defending American League champions returned home on Wednesday to start a five-game stretch that will carry them through the weekend, beginning with two more games against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Diehard baseball fan Matt Stoltz traveled further than many fans to get to Kauffman Stadium, bicycling in from Texas. Stoltz is in the process of logging 5,000 miles on his touring bike.

His “Biking for Baseball” adventure will see him ride from coast-to-coast, visiting all 30 Major League Baseball stadiums as he goes.

In fact, Stoltz, who is a Wisconsin native and Brewer fan, hit his 11th ballpark so far on the trip, needing a week-and-a-half to reach Kansas City from Houston.

He’s doing it to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters, and having a great time along the ride.

“You meet a lot of great people along the way, and turn strangers into friends. You have a lot of challenges, both mentally and physically, which make the trip really tough,” Stoltz explained.

“You’re going to have obstacles come up along the way that you can’t prepare for, but if you did prepare, it wouldn’t be as much fun.”

He says he’s been sleeping wherever he can. Sometimes, that means camping outdoors and finding meals where he can. Stoltz says he’s off to St. Louis next, then all the way to Florida to visit the Miami Marlins and Tampa Bay Rays. You can keep up with his travels by clicking on this link for his website.
