KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Bill Nye, the Science Guy, decided he couldn’t be silent any longer on the evolution/creation debate and now his web comments are churning the controversy. Nye filmed the now-popular web video for ‘Big Think’, a company that touts success from big ideas.

“When you’re in love, you want to tell the world,” Nye quoted Carl Sagan, American astronomer and astrophysicist, to explain his need to go public with his belief in the importance of teaching evolution exclusively.

The former children’s show host says the world needs scientifically literate voters and citizens.

“Denial of evolution is unique to the United States,” he said.

As his web video began getting more attention, social media lit up over the weekend with rumors of Nye’s death. (See tweets below.)
“RIP Bill Nye The Science Guy” topic began trending on Twitter and the death hoax spread rapidly.

Be assured: Nye is alive, and will continue to talk about science.
