KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police are conducting a death investigation after a body was found in an elevator at a vacant building Monday morning.
A spokesperson with the Kansas City Police Department said they received a tip just before 11 a.m. that a dead body had been found in an elevator at a building on Universal Avenue near Equitable Drive that used to be a Ramada Inn. The caller did not disclose how or why they entered the building.
Police said the body appeared to have been there “for a while.” They did not say if the deceased was a man or a woman.
Police said they will release more information after the Jackson County Medical Examiner performs an autopsy to determine a cause of death.
