LAWRENCE, Kan. — A body was recovered from the Kansas River in a Lawrence park Wednesday morning, according to a press release from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities identified the victim as 49-year-old Dwight Sexton from the Lawrence area.

The cause of death is pending an autopsy that has been scheduled for Thursday. Police say that there are no indications of foul play at present.

The body was recovered by an underwater search and recovery team after a boater reported he discovered it in the river, northwest of the Kansas University Boat House.
