KANSAS CITY, Mo –  After nearly 24 hours of searching, the body of a missing teen was found in the Blue River on Saturday.

His family said he went fishing with some friends Friday after school, when the boat overturned.

The 18-year-old hadn’t been seen since. Saturday night, family confirmed to FOX 4 that the body of Hsark Pu Htoo was pulled from the river.

Dozens of family and friends watch near the Blue River in horror, as the body of 18 year old Hsark Pu Htoo was pulled from the water.

Family said Htoo went fishing with two friends after school on Friday in the Blue River near 40 highway and Manchester Trafficway when the boat capsized. A water rescue Friday night went on for hours with no result.

“We couldn`t sleep at night. The whole night we are waiting for him. We do not eat nothing. We want to see his face.”

Saturday evening, as family watched, Htoo’s body was found.

His mother in shock, as her young son was put on a stretcher and taken away. Family said Htoo recently moved to the metro from Thailand. He was a junior in high school and learning English quickly — a promising future, devastatingly short.

“I want to say I love you very much. The whole family love you very much. We miss you. We want to see you again.”

No one else was injured.
