KANSAS CITY, Kan. — KCK police said they are investigating another shooting on Saturday, this time near Valley Street and Kansas Avenue.

KCK police are at the scene of a homicide near 9th and Barnett.

KCK Police Chief Terry Zeigler tweeted just before 5 p.m. that officers were working a shooting, noting that the “victim may not make it.”

Police described the victim as a Hispanic male in his 20s. The victim was found outside a home and was taken to an area hospital and is in critical condition. Police said they believe the shooting may have happened after an altercation in an alley at that location.

This comes just a half hour after Zeigler said that police were investigating a homicide near 9th and Barnett.

Officers arriving at that scene found that a third party had transported the victim to an area hospital. That person was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The identities of those involved have not yet been released. There is no suspect information on either case at this time.

“I couldn’t necessarily say that these shootings are related or not at this point, it’s still too early to say,” said Zac Blair, Public Information Officer for the Kansas City Kansas Police Department.
