LENEXA, Kan. — The Lenexa Fire Department confirmed that an investigation into a car fire that occurred early Wednesday morning is now a death investigation.
Lenexa police and fire crews got a call around 4:20 a.m. that a vehicle was engulfed in flames along southbound 69 Highway over I-35.
Lenexa police closed off the ramps to I-35 and 69 Highway while crews work. The ramps were reopened just before 11 a.m.
Police say it is too early to determine what caused the fire or the death of the individual.
The vehicle is described as a light-colored SUV.
