Child and Teenager Arrested With Gun

BELLEVILLE, Ill. — An elementary school student is one of two suspects in a series of car burglaries in Belleville, about 20 miles southeast of St. Louis.

Police arrested two boys, ages 7 and 16, at the scene of the burglaries. They say the boys broke into several cars. Police say when they arrested the boys, they had a gun.

The older boy is in custody at a juvenile detention center. The 7-year-old was released into his mother’s custody.
