KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police are looking for a man who ran from the scene of a crash Wednesday morning at 23rd and Topping after he injured four people, three seriously.

Police say the man was driving a stolen SUV at about 9:20 a.m. and ran a red light at the intersection, crashing into a woman who had her two kids, a 3-year-old and a 10-month-old in the car with her.  The impact forced her car into another vehicle; the driver of that car received minor injuries.

The children and their mother suffered serious injuries and are in the hospital. When neighbors heard the crash, they ran to the scene and say they found the woman crying and frantic and her children bloody in their car seats.

Police say the man crashed into some trees, jumped out of the car, and ran from the scene, taking off his clothes as he ran away.

Police say they were not pursuing the man when he ran the red light and speculate that he may have just stolen the vehicle.

Anyone with any information about the man is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
