OLATHE, Kan. — The City of Olathe is reminding residents that painting fire hydrants is not allowed.

This comes after a  yellow fire hydrant was painted red and given fake teeth and googly eyes.

Although the fire hydrant is cute, the city says painting them can caused problems because the paint color tells firefighters which entity owns the hydrant. Crews will repaint the hydrant yellow in the coming months.
