Cops apprehend murder suspect after an extended search

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police were involved in a search with a helicopter and K-9 units on Tuesday night and they eventually apprehended a man wanted for murder. The suspect evaded officers in a wooded area that is bordered by Blue Parkway to the west, Blue Ridge Cutoff to the east and E. 63rd Street to the north.

The suspect was taken into custody shortly before 9 p.m., it is presently unknown when and where the homicide or homicides he's suspected in took place. FOX 4's Robert Townsend spoke with the property manager at the Crown Lodge motel where police had set up a staging post during the investigation.

The manager said the man who was arrested and a woman had checked into the motel on Monday and were set to stay for a week. FOX 4 will continue to follow this story and deliver updates as more information about this incident and the suspect is confirmed.
