Motorcyclist injured in accident involving trash truck

OLATHE, Kan. — A 59-year-old man suffered injuries in a crash involving his motorcycle and a trash truck. The accident happened around 10:40 Thursday morning at 114th and Sumac in Olathe, Kan.

The motorcycle driver suffered injuries to his hands and face. The driver of the trash truck was not injured.

Initial reports indicate that the motorcycle was attempting to pass the trash truck when the accident occurred. The motorcycle operator was transported to an area hospital with injuries. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

They did not say if any tickets were issued or who was at fault. Because the crash involves a city vehicle, Overland Park’s police traffic unit will handle the investigation.
