KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police are investigating a deadly crash that occurred near Front Street and Chouteau Trafficway Monday morning.

According to police, a black Mustang and a red Saturn were traveling south on Chouteau Trafficway side by side around 10 a.m. when the man driving the Mustang sideswiped the Saturn and forced it into a concrete wall along the bridge. The collision caused the Saturn to roll three times.

The woman driving the Saturn died at the scene.

"We found it in it’s final rest to be completely upside down," said Sgt. Bill Mahoney, a KCPD accident investigator. "So the roof collapsed quite a bit on the vehicle. It appears she died instantly or very nearly after the impact."

The man driving the Mustang was being questioned by police.

Chouteau Trafficway will be closed from Topping to Gardner avenues until about 2 p.m. while police conduct their investigation.

Police say it will be up to the Jackson County prosecutor, Jean Peters Baker, to determine if the man driving the Mustang will face any charges.

One person died in a crash near Front Street and Chouteau Trafficway Monday.
