FAIRWAY, Kan. — Crews are working especially hard before Memorial Day weekend to get the Fairway Pool ready.
“It feels like it’s been a mad dash since we started,” said Nathan Nogelmeier the Fairway Parks and Recreation Director.
Nogelmeier says it’s been non-stop since October. That’s when the $ 2.7 million renovation project started. Voters in Fairway passed a half-cent sales tax in 2014 which funded the renovations. Since then, there’s been a lot of anticipation.
“We get calls and emails everyday from people driving by, going to the park and looking at it,” he said.
Crews demolished the existing pool house and snack bar; in its place are new showers and bathrooms.
“No matter where you stand, you can see the pool no matter where you’re at,” said Nogelmeier.
The weather has been hard to work through, but Nogelmeier says the pool will be ready Saturday morning, rain or shine.
